I'm papercrafting a bit more recently, but so far mostly easy builds, to get up my taste for it again. I enjoy feeling compelled to building. I've built a few things lately but I haven't been able to take any pictures of any of it yet, but expect an onslaught of pictures later this month.
Sooo... Surprisingly enough I didn't get into the school for watchmaking. At first I was stunned and sad about it but the more I think about it, the better I feel about it.

I have MS, so the risk of me getting, for example, tremors is pretty darn high, and you can't be a watchmaker with tremors, so I had to scratch that plan (which was "THE PLAN" that I have had for this whole year, so I feel pretty lost tbh) and find something else to pursue.

So far I have a few options, but among these is one that stands out: package designer.

Any thoughts on this?

I am really, really lost right now after finding out I didn't get in. The weirdest thing is that I know I did really good on the tests, but maybe others were just better this year.

Too bad it still stings to get waitlisted on a place so low on the list that at least 60% of everyone who got in has to decline their place for me to get in.

Anyway. I am lost and I don't know what to make of myself. But that's life, innit?
So I got the Bath House model for my 30th birthday in 2013 but didn't build it until this winter.

It took me 23 days of intense building and I built it as a kind of "see you when I see you" in regards to my papercrafting. I kinda lost the spark for it in 2013 and have more or less just done very little over a very long time, I've tried hard to get the spark back but it really feels forced. I think it's time for me to move on with my life.

I'm going after an education as a watchmaker and am planning to direct my full attention to becoming a great watchmaker instead of rotting away at home.

With that being said, this has been my favourite thing to do during the last 7 years or so and it has saved me from a lot of pain by being so interesting that I haven't noticed my otherwise always burning pain. I've found that full focus is a wonderful technique for pain relief. I'm going to miss it, but I really want to make something of myself and sadly you can't really live on making paper models. Yet. Wink/Razz

I might pick it up as a hobby again in the future, but the comming 3 years are going to be fully commited to learning how to make and fix clocks and watches and the like, and maybe after I'm done and start working with clocks I won't feel the need for papercraft anyway, so I don't know if I'm stopping here or will pick it up in the future. I kinda hope I do, but at the same time I'm ok with it if I don't. It's been a big part of my life so far but maybe it's time to focus on a new adventure.

Thank you all for your support. It has meant the world to me to be able to come here and read all your kind comments and get credit for my skills. I just want to live a normal life.

I'll see you around. Heart

autumn-bound, wonderful, petite, interesting, an original.

I'm a very happy person!

I build papercrafts to keep myself occupied, relax and keep my fingers nimble.
all my papercrafts up until Midna has been with 80g/m paper, so I'd say I'm pretty good at this since that thin paper does not make for durable and sturdy models. ^_^
however, I'm now working with thicker paper and I'm loving it! it's so sturdy and easy with the thicker paper. I wouldn't recommend thin paper if you want good and durable results. it buckles too easy. it CAN be done (as my models prove) but it's a lot more fragile and hard to handle without destroying the model.

and if you're gonna use my pictures, please, at least get my gender right? I'm female. and if you say stuff like "this guy made an awesome papercraft of ***" it feels like I don't get cred for all of the work and hours I sink into this hobby. so PLEASE, get my gender straight.

and I only BUILD papercrafts, I don't create the templates. I'm not good at computer models, but I AM good at assembly and I love to work with my hands. but I share no credit with the creators of the templates I build. I just love to build their models. :D

Tbh I am running out of space, but I give away a lot of my builds too. It's fun to make people happy. :)

At least if they aren't too large. Space is more and more scarce today, I've noticed. :)

Amazing papercraft collection! :D I'm starting papercrafting, already made 2 not bad models but I'm really determined to make this life-sized Link. Problem is that the link on is broken :/ (And the website looks a bit like abandoned - last post on forum fom year ago :( (Sad) ) I spent whole yesterday to find it anywhere else but there isn't... And I have a question, maybe you still have the .pdo files of this amazing life-sized Link? (Or link to where download it, maybe I missed something). I would really appreciate your help, OH, and sorry for my bad english. Take care and have a nice day!
